Montclair Film Festival
May 16, 2015
Actors Patrick Wilson and Dane DeHaan regaled an enthusiastic audience of fans during a wide-ranging and enlightening Montclair Film Festival Conversation about the art of acting, their love for indie filmmaking and their new projects.
Like Wilson, DeHaan is a professionally trained theater actor whose career started to take off when he appeared on HBO’s In Treatment in 2010. He’s perhaps best known for his film roles in Lawless (2012), The Place Beyond the Pines (2012), Kill Your Darlings (2013) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). He’ll next appear on the silver screen in September in Life, a film by Anton Corbijn in which he portrays James Dean.
In introducing DeHaan, Wilson enthused, “Very few times do you get to watch someone, especially a young actor who starts out and in a few years amasses such an unbelievable resumé and catalog of work….Every time this guy is on the screen, he scores.”

Two Lovers and a Bear
May 16, 2015
Frappier, whose film career spans four decades, wrapped up filming on Two Lovers and a Bear earlier this month, after completing more than two months’ worth of shooting in Iqaluit and Ontario with award-winning director Kim Nguyen.
The film, set in Iqaluit and the surrounding landscape, still needs another six months of post-production work, but Nguyen and Frappier have put together a promotional segment for the Cannes Film Festival in France, May 13 to May 24, to create advance buzz and hopefully land some distribution deals.
“We’re showing a two-minute demo at the Cannes Film Festival, for the buyers,” Frappier said, just before departing for the festival this month.
France-based distributor TF1 International will be selling the movie in Cannes for markets outside of North America.
“We hope the movie will be shown in all parts of the world,” Frappier said.
A cast and crew of 100 assembled in Iqaluit at the end of March to shoot most of the movie, which features Canadian actor Tatiana Maslany, star of the TV series Orphan Black, and American Dane DeHaan, who has starred in a string of feature films, most recently The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The filmmakers are planning for a spring 2016 release.
Two Lovers and a Bear, as the title suggests, “is a big love story,” Frappier said.
“It’s a movie about redemption at the same time. It’s an adventure film. I think this movie is so full of life that I hope people will have a real experience watching it — and that it will give them something they’ve never had in a theatre,” he said.

Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne have been lined up to take the leads in his big-screen adaptation of the science fiction novel Valerian. Besson broke the news Tuesday via Twitter in his first ever tweet.
Valerian will see the French filmmaker write and direct the film, with his wife, Virginie Besson Silla, producing for Besson’s EuropaCorp banner, which will finance, produce and distribute.
DeHaan is set to play the titular character, a space and time-traveling agent from a futuristic Earth, with Delevingne starring as his red-haired companion, Laureline. Production is set to begin at the end of this year, with a global release slated for summer 2017.
Created in 1967 by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres, Valerian has sold more than 10 million copies in 21 languages.

Young Americans go to Cannes
May 9, 2015
Dane DeHaan and Daniel Radcliffe are reuniting with their Kill Your Darlings director John Krokidas to play the young Republican consultant Karl Rove and strategist Lee Atwater alongside Amanda Seyfried.
XYZ Films will handle international sales in Cannes on the story, based on true events surrounding a wild road trip the two friends undertook in the 1970s.
In Young Americans the cross-country journey becomes something of a crash course in dirty tricks as the pair encounter a young political femme fatale.
Bruce Cohen and Liz Destro of Destro Films are producing alongside Kim Leadford of StarStream Media and Frank Frattaroli of Circle Of Confusion.
UTA Independent packaged the film and will be representing North American rights.
Principal photography is scheduled to kick off in autumn.

I added this on our facebook, but I’ll post it here as well. Thanks to Dane-DeHaan.org, I retouched a photo of dane that was sort of bleached out and faded so I brought up the color and increased the details also increased the eye with a bit of a highlight. My edit can be viewed in the gallery and you can compare it to the original. Is it better or not? Let me know.
I also made a facebook cover with it, with the landscape of Scotland.

A Cure for Wellness
April 8, 2015
Director Gore Verbinski has found the leads for his supernatural horror project A Cure for Wellness: Dane DeHaan and Mia Goth.
Revolutionary Road scribe Justin Haythe is writing the script for the New Regency project.
Wellness tells the story of an employee (DeHaan) who is sent to rescue his boss from a European “wellness spa” but soon realizes he’s trapped, and discovers that the facility has a more sinister purpose than just serving the health needs of its patients. Goth, who is in negotiations for the role, will play a longtime patient who is oblivious to the spa director’s dark designs for her.
Two Lovers and a Bear
March 17, 2015
Principle photography has begun on “Two Lovers and a Bear” in chilly Timmins, Northern Ontario, where it is snowing, and will continue in Iqaluit in the Nunavut territory. Set in the frigid cold of the North Pole, the film stars Dane DeHaan (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” “Life”) and Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”) as two young adults looking for love who not only have to deal with the harsh elements, but their own inner demons.
Roger Frappier of MAX Films is producing the film, which is written and directed by Kim Nguyen (Oscar-nominated Foreign Film “War Witch”). Co-producers are Jonathan Bronfman (“War Witch”) and Ellen Hamilton (“Kajutaijuq: The Spirit That Comes), with Jeff Sackman as executive producer. The cinematographer is Nicolas Bolduc (“War Witch,” “Enemy”).
Entertainment One (eOne)/Les Films Seville will distribute the film across Canada. TF1 International has acquired worldwide distribution rights and will sell the film at the Cannes Film Festival.
Another Man Shoot
March 12, 2015
Dame did a shoot for Another Man magazine. You can view the images from that shoot in our gallery and the article can be read below.
Dane DeHaan’s next role, as James Dean in Anton Corbijn’s Life, marks his crossover from complex outsider actor to leading man. Indeed, James Dean is the definitive leading man – the Rebel Without a Cause whose looks, charisma and tragically premature death aged just 24 cemented him into the collective consciousness as an icon of masculinity and mystery.
DeHaan is in the intriguing and difficult position of playing one of his heroes. “I’ve had a poster of Dean on my wall since I was in college and still do now,” he says in his interview with novelist and screenwriter Bruce Wagner. But this film compelled him not as a piece of hagiography – rather because “it tries to show how a normal person can be turned into an icon.” In DeHaan’s shoot with Alister Mackie and Willy Vanderperre, the young actor portrays a modern take on Hollywood masculinity dressed in jacquard and an insouciant lurex tie, all captured in this exclusive behind the scenes film.
